WE APPRECIATE INFORMATION ON ANY CRIMINAL ACTIVITY

THE POLICE DEPARTMENT PROMOTES VARIOUS COMMUNITY PROGRAMS:

    D.A.R.E.

D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is a collaborate effort by DARE certified law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and community to offer an education program in the classroom to prevent or reduce drug abuse and violence among children and youth.

The DARE program offers preventive strategies to enhance those protective factors – especially bonding to the family, school, and community -  which appear to foster the development of resiliency in young people who may be at risk for substance abuse or other problem behaviors.  Researchers have identified certain protective and social bonding factors in the family, school, and community which may foster resiliency in young people, in other words, the capacity of young people for healthy, independent growth in spite of adverse conditions.  These strategies focus on the development of social competency, communication skills, self-esteem, empathy, decision making, conflict resolution, sense of purpose and independence, and positive alternative activities to drug abuse and other destructive behaviors.

The Police Department now has two officers trained to provide D.A.R.E. training in our school.  These officers work in the classroom to give the children the tools to say NO! to drugs and violence.

NOTE: This program is always in need of funding for supplies.  If you would like to contact or donate to the D.A.R.E. program contact the Police Department at 928-927-4644 or e-mail Officer Norris at dare@ci.quartzsite.az.us.

    NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

This program is offered by the Police Department to the neighborhoods in the community including the R.V. Parks.  A Police Officer will come to your location and give a talk/training on how to be a good neighbor and watch out for each other.  Remember the Police Department depends on all of you to help us reduce any and all criminal activity in Quartzsite.

LA PAZ COUNTY CRIME STOPPERS INC.

If you have information on any crime, make a confidential call to: 1-888-818-4911 or 1-928-669-TIPS.

You may receive a Reward up to $1,000.00 if your information leads to the arrest and indictment of a felony suspect.

    FINGERPRINTING

Fingerprinting is done Monday – Friday 8:00 am till 5:00 pm.

    PARKING

This problem crops up every year and everyone who receives a parking ticket is extremely upset.  You need to remember there is no parking in the right-of-ways along Main Street (B-10) and Central Blvd. (Hwy 95).  The state closed these right-of-ways to parking to eliminate the congestion and chance of an injury along these roads.  Because these areas are in the limits of the Town, the Police Department is responsible for enforcement.  These “No Parking” areas and other “No Parking” areas in the Town are enforced so that people will comply with the law and it will make it safer for all.

    ROADWAY MARKINGS

    Double Yellow Line:

The double yellow line means that you cannot drive to the left of that road marking.

    Center Left Turn ONLY Lane:

The roadway for the “center left turn only” lane is marked with a solid yellow line with a broken yellow line inside the solid line.  This designates that the driver can pull into the center lane and stop and wait to make a left turn when the traffic clears.  If a driver drives, passes another vehicle, parks, or uses the “center left turn only” lane for any other purpose, he or she will be issued a citation.

    ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES

All terrain vehicles that are not licensed for the roadway cannot be driven on the shoulders or any other part of a road.

    TELEPHONE CONTACTS

    Fraud:

REMEMBER if it seems too good to be true it usually is!!!!!!!!!

Do not send anyone money to cover the costs of getting you a large windfall of money.  Do no give anyone on the phone your credit  card number or its expiration date unless you know who you are doing business with.

Fraud Hotline Number 1-800-279-8300 -to make a complaint.

    Solicitors:

Law Enforcement associations as well as other companies hire telemarketers to solicit you for money.  Most are legitimate but stray from the assigned areas.  If you wish to support these groups that is your choice.  My personal feeling is that rather than support a group outside your area that probably won’t benefit the community, support your own police department or whatever other group you my have in your community that would appreciate the support.

    Identity Theft:

Do not leave your credit  cards, drivers license, or any other identification around where someone could take it.  Also, again, do not give anyone personal information unless it is for something you are requesting.  Any unsolicited mail for credit  cards, etc. should be torn up so that it can not be used by anyone else.
